About Us
We meet every Wednesday night at the Memorial Hall in Station Road, Wootton Bassett near Swindon from 7.30 - 10.00 pm.
We are a very sociable group and currently have just under 30 members, aged seventeen to sixties and from a wide range of jobs. We only cast from within the Group for productions but we welcome new members. The annual subscription for membership is £25 (£12.50 concessions) and we are run by a committee which is elected by the members. Our next AGM is in July.
Most people come down to the hall on a Wednesday evening regardless of whether they are actually in a production. A typical week will find the cast for the next main production rehearsing on stage whilst other members of the group may be in the annexe rehearsing a one act play, reading a play, or preparing props, set or costumes for the main production.
There are a wide range of activities for people to get involved in: acting; directing; prompting; set design; building & painting sets; making/hiring costumes; procuring props; working front of house at productions; stage managing; lighting; and sound.
On the social side, most Wednesday evenings end with a drink in a local pub and we arrange regular visits to productions of other local groups and to professional productions in London, Bristol, Bath or Salisbury. We hold an annual dinner in February and a summer barbecue.
We currently stage three full-length productions each year in the Memorial Hall in Wootton Bassett (March, June & November) and each year we compete in the Harold Jolliffe One-Act Festival, organised by the Swindon & District Theatre Guild, at Swindon Arts Centre in February. We try to put on a variety of productions to cater for all tastes.
